Dear family and friends of Bernard,

I would like to express my deepest condolences in regards to your recent loss. As a Bible Educator I have wanted to share some scriptural thoughts that I personally have found to be a comfort when loved ones have passed.

One of these points of comfort is promise from God found at Acts 24:15 where it says, "...there shall be a resurrection." This promise alone is so helpful, knowing that we will see our loved ones again.

Another comfort is found at Isaiah 25:8, "He [God] will swallow up death in victory [and] will wipe away tears from all faces." What a day that will be when death will no longer rob us of our loved ones!

Until that time we can look to God for the comfort we need as we see at 2 Corinthians 1:3 where it says, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the father of tender mercies, and the God of all comfort."

My thought and prayers are with you and your family and friends.

Sincerely,
Judy Hoffman

Bernie was a true friend, a kind soul to us in every respect. He provided us with many laughs, the best venison steak sandwiches, strong 'shine, and our first baby - Lucy the lab/chow pup. George would be gone for hours on a promise of a 'quick visit' - but I knew he was in good hands listening to Bernie's stories and sage advice on every topic imaginable. We are deeply sorry that we could not visit and celebrate Bernie's life with family today, but please know that you are in our thoughts. Rest in peace, Bernie.

Bernie was a good neighbor and friend. He lived life to the fullest and was a member of the Chickahominy Indian tribe of Virginia and most proud of that heritage. Bernie will be missed by our community. Sheila, Amy and I send our thoughts and a prayer to his family that God's comfort will surround you at this difficult hour. I give thanks to God that Bernie was a part of my life's journey. RIP good friend.........Pete, Sheila and Amy Waters

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of such a great Uncle. We will always remember his cheerfulness, jokes and pizzas. May God bless your family at this time of need.

I might live pretty far away, but I always felt close to my Uncle. I learned so much from Uncle Bernard every time I got to visit him. Tidbits on how to plant a garden better or how to make my meal taste so much richer. So many little tricks I learned from him. Praying for my cousins and their families during this time of loss. He was a very special uncle to me. Love you all, Diane
