Doris Lee Larkin Downs

Hagerstown, MD- Doris Lee Larkin Downs, 82, of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Boonsboro, MD passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Ravenwood Nursing Home Hagerstown, MD.

She was born on September 23, 1935 in Columbia Furnace, Virginia to the late Robert Greenberry and Hazel Virginia Heishman Larkin.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Joseph Alt in 1960 and her second husband Rev. Joseph Ralph Downs, Jr. in 2016.

She was a 1954 graduate of Edinburg High School Edinburg, Virginia.  She was also a 1957 graduate of Winchester Memorial School of Nursing and attended Hagerstown Junior College.

She was a Registered Nurse.

She was employed by Western Maryland Hospital Center Hagerstown, MD until retiring in 2006.  She was previously employed by Leahi Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii for 14 years.

She attended Sharpsburg Bible Church Sharpsburg, MD.

She enjoyed Genealogy and spending time with her family.

Doris is survived by her daughter Beth Ann Downs of Boonsboro, MD; daughter Carol Ann Schuessler of Highland, CA; son Stephen L. Downs of West Palm Beach, FL; sister Helen L. Burton of Harrisonburg, VA; sister Virginia R. Morrow of San Antonio, TX; sister Judith C. Carter of Woodstock, VA; 8 grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son Joseph R. Downs, III, sister Faye A. Miller, and brother Everett R. Larkin.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 2:00 pm on Saturday for the convenience of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD with Rev. Gene Renner officiating. 

Graveside services will be held at Columbia Furnace Union Church Cemetery Edinburg, VA on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Brian Duncan officiating.
