Erik Steven Spinney

Williamsport, MD – Erik Steven Spinney, 49, of Williamsport, MD died in his sleep on Friday, May 19, 2017 at his home.

Erik was born August 31, 1967 in Clearwater, Florida. He was reared in Lake Park, Georgia, attended Georgia Christian School and the Valwood School in South Georgia, and graduated from Lowndes County High School Valdosta, Georgia. He was an accomplished athlete who excelled at baseball, basketball, and football.  Williamsport has been his home for the past eighteen years.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Coakley Spinney, who is a lifelong resident of Williamsport, as well as three brothers: Robert Spinney (and wife Caroline) of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; Curt Spinney (and wife Janet) of Marietta, Georgia; and Karl Spinney of Smyrna, Georgia.  Erik’s death is also mourned by four nephews, three nieces, one grandnephew, and one grandniece.

Erik was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Spinney in 1987; his maternal grandparents, Guy and Mary Coakley of Williamsport; and paternal grandparents, Alfred and Mildred Spinney of Buffalo, New York.

Family and friends will celebrate Erik’s life on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at a memorial service at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD.  The family will greet guests at 10:00 am with a brief service to follow at 10:30.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
