George Samuel "Buddy" Koons, Jr.

Halfway, MD – George Samuel “Buddy” Koons, Jr., 92, of Halfway, MD passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his home.

He was born on July 6, 1924 in Williamsport, MD to the late George Samuel Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bierman Koons.

He was a 1942 graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD.

He was employed by the Hagerstown Post Office for 25 years until retiring in 1985.  He was previously employed at Fairchild Aircraft Hagerstown, MD.

Buddy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church Williamsport, MD.

He was a member of Western Maryland Sportsman’s Club.

Buddy is survived by his wife Patti Jean Palmer Koons whom he married March 28, 1948; daughter Mary Anna Ralls and her husband Joseph of Smithsburg, MD; son Richard Alan Koons and his wife Laura of Hagerstown, MD; son Randy Lee Koons and his wife Teresa of Williamsport, MD; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one step grandson and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Genevieve E. Pearson.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Susan E. Boehl and Hospice Chaplain Kibreab Gudeta officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.  Military graveside services will be provided by Morris Frock Post #42 American Legion Hagerstown, MD.
