Joan Blondell "Noanie" Buchanan

Hagerstown, MD – Joan Blondell “Noanie” Buchanan, 79, of Hagerstown,MD passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center Rockville, MD.

She was born on September 21, 1938 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Milton Brondell and Doris Lucille Reedy Rider.

She was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School Hagerstown, MD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. “Ted” Buchanan, III on March 24, 2002.

Noanie was a Homemaker most of her life. After raising her children she enjoyed working at Gibney’s Florist and was a Hostess at the Tortuga Restaurant for many years in Hagerstown, MD.

 She was of the Catholic Faith.

Noanie was a 17 year breast cancer survivor.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Amvets Post #10 Hagerstown, MD; Dixon Troxell Post #211 American Legion Auxiliary Funkstown, MD; Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM Williamsport, MD.

She enjoyed dancing, singing Karaoke, and especially traveling to spend time with her grandchildren.

Noanie was an avid sports fan and followed local sports very closely. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and New York Yankee fan.

She is survived by her daughter Melinda S. Yates and her husband Jeremy of Gerrardstown, WV; son Kevin L. Buchanan of Liberty, Missouri; Partner A. Tom Hawks; sister Judy A. Johnson of Hagerstown, MD; brother Milton “Bubby” Rider of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren Alaina, Brett, Cal Buchanan of Liberty, Missouri.

She was predeceased by her brother Ronald L. Rider.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Prayers will be offered at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Concocheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Father T. Mathew Rowgh officiating.  Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.
