Hagerstown, MD – John William Kendle, 89, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born on January 1, 1927 in Brownsmill, PA to the late Albert Elsworth and Mary Pauline Kuhn Kendle.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora E. Kendle on April 1, 2009.

 

John was employed by Horn Corporation of Hagerstown, MD as Plant Superintendent until retiring in 1989.  After retirement he was employed by River City Pet Supply Williamsport, MD and Martin’s Supermarket Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater.

 

He was a member of Pinesburg Baptist Church Williamsport, MD and was an Ordained Deacon.

 

John was also a member of Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD.

 

He is survived by his son Archie J. Kendle and his wife Cindy of Gustavus, Alaska; son Ricky L. Kendle of Costa Rica; son Brian S. Kendle and his wife Mary of Fairplay, MD; loving grandchildren Aaron, Dakota, Logan, Travis and Hayley; great grandchildren Makena and Adelyn; sister Dorothy Black of Chambersburg, PA; sister Janet Spalding of Greencastle, PA; sister Peggy Helfrick of Greencastle, PA; sister Jean Mummert of Maugansville, MD; sister Holly Bingaman of Williamson, PA; brother Albert Kendle of Hagerstown, MD; brother Ronald Kendle of Cearfoss, MD; brother Robert Kendle of Greencastle, PA; brother Thomas Kendle of Greencastle, PA; brother Larry Kendle of Mercersburg, PA; brother Gary Kendle of Mercersburg, PA; brother Jacob Kendle of Mercersburg, PA and brother James Kendle of Chambersburg, PA

 

He was predeceased by two brothers Franklin Kendle and Randy Kendle.

 

In honor of his wishes services were private at Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD with military honors provided by Morris Frock Post #42 American Legion Hagerstown, MD.
