Kenneth N. Barnhart

Hedgesville, WV – Kenneth N. Barnhart, 70, of Hedgesville, WV passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at his home.

He was born on October 26, 1946 in Cumberland, MD to the late Howard R. and Ethel O. Sherley Barnhart.

He was a 1964 graduate of Fort Hill High School Cumberland, MD.

He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and the United States Army Reserves.

He was employed by General Motors Corporation of Martinsburg, WV for 31 years until retiring in 1999.

Kenneth was a member of Western Maryland Railroad Historical Society and UAW Local #1590 Martinsburg, WV.

He was an avid model Railroader.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sherilyn R. “Sheri” Vandegrift Barnhart; daughter Melissa L. Carper of Boynton Beach, FL; son Russell H. Barnhart of Boca Raton, FL; grandson Dylan Chase Carper of Delray Beach, FL; grandson Trent Hugh Carper and fiancee’ Olivia of Mountain Home, Idaho; sister Catherine Evans of Hagerstown, MD; sister Nancy Trigonoplos of Pomfret, MD; sister in law Lorraine Barnhart of Oldtown, MD; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by a grandson Kenneth “Jordy” Carper, brothers James Barnhart, William Barnhart, Stanley Barnhart and John Barnhart, sisters Patricia Sacco and Jane Bucy and stepfather Cecil Grimshaw.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.

Burial will be private.
