Lester Albertus "Blue Eyes" Nave

Fairplay, MD – Lester Albertus “Blue Eyes” Nave, 87, of Fairplay, MD was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 surrounded by his family.

 

Born January 1, 1930 in Williamsport, MD.  He was the son of the late Mary Agnes Nalley Nave and Edward “Bud” Nave of Williamsport, MD. He attended Williamsport High School and was a member of the 1948 State Championship Soccer Team.  He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 17 and loved Sinoqiupe Scout Reservation. He served as a Cub Scout & Boy Scout Troop Leader for Troop 58 of Downsville, MD.  He was a member of the St. James Brethren Church in St. James, MD.

 

He is survived by his wife of 68 years Kathryn Alice Barkdoll Nave. Daughter LaDonna Nave Johanson and her husband Walter of Florida, son Hunter Nave and wife Roberta of Clear Spring, three grandsons Hunter Lynn and his wife Lacey of Williamsport, Timothy Johanson of Florida, Benjamen and his girlfriend Lexi Smith of Clear Spring.  Three great grandsons, Connor, Toby, and Bentley, also survived by sister-in- laws, Mary Clever, Charlotte Shank, JoAnne Clark, Janet Norris, Maxine Smith, Elizabeth Barkdoll.  Brother-in-laws Walter “Pete” Barkdoll, Garland Lung, Maurice Grove, and Robert Hays.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by twin infant sons, Jack & Paul, his sister Deloris Hays and three brothers, William “Bunce” McKinley, Joseph “Buddy” Nave and Howard “Ray” Nave.

 

He worked at Victor Products and Fairchild before starting his career with the Maryland State Police in 1961.  He first served at the Bel Air Barracks and many others before coming back to Hagerstown, as Barack Commander then retiring as 1st Lieutenant in 1985. He then worked at Washington County Board of Education as an Activity Driver until 2009.

 

Lester was a lifelong member of HDH Hunt Club, the Maryland Troopers Association, Maryland State Police Alumni Association, and the Thomas Pangborn Lodge #88 Faternal Order of Police.  He loved his family, woodworking, hunting, fishing, traveling, and the Myrtle Beach Camping Gang and his extended family and friends.  He was loved and admired by so many.

 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Sherry Shaffer with Hospice for her loving kindness she has shown our Poppy. 

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 pm.  There will be a Faternal Order of Police service on Sunday at 3:45 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim W. Shawyer officiating.  Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to make donations to Hospice of Washington County 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742.
