Sharpsburg, MD – Otho E.A. “Othie” Kretzer, Sr., 76, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at his home.

 

He was born on March 25, 1940 in Antietam, MD to the late Otho James and Martha Irene Hudson Kretzer.

 

He was a 1958 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

 

Othie owned and operated O.K. Plumbing for 34 years.  He previously worked at Mack Trucks Inc. of Hagerstown, MD for over 26 years while operating his plumbing business.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

 

He attended Burnside First Church of God Sharpsburg, MD.

 

He was a member of Antietam Post #236 American Legion Sharpsburg, MD; life member of Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM Williamsport, MD and a member of UAW Local #171 Hagerstown, MD.

 

Othie enjoyed country butchering for most of his life.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids and listening to gospel music.

 

He is survived by his wife Wilma R. Giffin Kretzer whom he married November 22, 1962 of Sharpsburg, MD; daughter Cathy S. Boyer and her husband Charles of Sharpsburg, MD; son Otho E.A. “Othie” Kretzer, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Sharpsburg, MD; son Randall S. “Skibow” Kretzer and his wife Erin of Williamsport, MD; sister Deatta M. Giffin of Boonsboro, MD; grandchildren Jennifer Loudenslager, Carrie Mullendore, Megan Welty, Randi Lynn Kretzer, Faith Kretzer, Lindsey Kretzer, Anthony Crampton and Nathan Pomfrey; great grandchildren Lillie, Kadin, Benjamin, Sadie, Brady, Karlie, and Cole; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by sisters Alice “Irene” Crampton, Golden Geraldine Shank, Dorothy Marie Jones and Norma Jean Guessford and brothers James George Kretzer, Gardner Leon Kretzer and Wayne MacArthur Kretzer, Sr.  

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at Burnside First Church of God 3904 Mills Rd. Sharpsburg, MD on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery Sharpsburg, MD. Military graveside services will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
