Sharpsburg, MD – Paul Hugh Hancock, 88, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at his home.

 

He was born on December 3, 1928 in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Hugh and Ida Heuper Hancock.

 

He was a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy. He was employed by Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission as a Supervisor retiring in 1983.  He designed the Azalea gardens at Brighton Dam in Montgomery County. 

 

He was of the Methodist Faith.

 

Paul was a member of Izaak Walton League and was the Past President.  He was also a Past President of the Clarksville Lions Club.

 

Paul was also a member of the Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD and Soil Conversation Society.

 

He was a Mason.

 

He was an excellent cabinet maker and loved hunting and fishing.

 

He is survived by his wife Betty D. Hancock of Brookeville, MD; his partner for the past 15 years Clara Grove of Sharpsburg, MD; daughter Paula H. Moore of Columbus, NC; daughter Donna H. Iager of Brookeville, MD; daughter Nancy L. Brown of Orrtanna, PA; grandson Sean H. Moore Poconos, PA; grandson Douglas L. Woods of Livingston, MT; 2 great grandsons

 

He was predeceased by a sister Virginia Homan.

 

Services will be announced at a later date.
