Williamsport, MD – Roger Samuel Hornbaker, 85, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was born on June 6, 1932 in Williamsport, MD to the late Ralph Jacob and Mary Margaret Bope Hornbaker.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.

 

He attended the University of Maryland and studied Dairy Science after being discharged from the service.

 

He was a self-employed Dairy Farmer for most of his life.

 

He was of the Protestant Faith.

 

He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club of Washington County.

 

Roger is survived by his wife Mary E. Rhodes Hornbaker whom he married Oct. 29, 1957; daughter Sandy D. Davis and her husband Floyd of Williamsport, MD; daughter Barbara A. Semple and her husband Charles of Charlotte, NC; son Scott R. Hornbaker and his wife Kathy of St. Mary’s, GA; sister Mary Jordan of Fairplay, MD; brother Leo Hornbaker of Clear Spring, MD; brother Frank Hornbaker of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren Lance Davis, Stephanie Berchock, Danny Semple, Kristen Toms, Amy Semple, and Bryan Semple; great grandchildren Justin, Jordan, and Joshua Davis, Ryan, and Matt Burcker, Katelyn and Madison Toms, Landon, Tyler, and Mason Semple; great great grandson Weston Davis.

He was predeceased by a grandson Charles Bryan Semple; brothers Floyd Hornbaker, Eugene Hornbaker, and John Hornbaker; and a sister Rachel Daley.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon).

 

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating. Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
