Ronald Eugene "Dewey" Murphy

Williamsport, MD – Ronald Eugene “Dewey” Murphy, 78, of Williamsport, MD and formerly of Frostburg, MD passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on November 26, 1938 in Frostburg, MD to the late John Alvin and Sarah Grace Steele Murphy.

He was a 1956 graduate of Beall High School Frostburg, MD and attended University of Maryland.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.

He was employed by Large Main Frame Computers of Silver Spring, MD until his retirement in 2002.  He was previously employed by Hecht’s Department Store of Silver Spring, MD.

Dewey was a volunteer with the Williamsport Library.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Jeanette Curtis Murphy whom he married January 2, 1974; sister Donna Jean Shockey of LaVale, MD; sister Twylah Mae Stewart of Cresaptown, MD; brother Dr. Kenneth R. Murphy of Tarpon Springs, FL and brother Ralph A. Murphy of Frostburg, MD

He was predeceased by a brother Henry Arthur Murphy.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.
