Dargan, MD – Rooney L. “Ronce” “Ronnie” Knight, 79, of Dargan, MD passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on August 5, 1938 in Dargan, MD to the late Edward McComas Sr., and Elsie Mae Myers Knight.
He attended Boonsboro High School Boonsboro, MD.
He was employed by Eastalco in Frederick, MD until retiring in 1999. He was also part owner and operator of Cap’n Benders Tavern in Sharpsburg, MD from 1991-2004.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
Ronce was a life member of Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM Williamsport, MD.
He was also a member of Dixon Troxell Post #211 American Legion Funkstown, MD and Retired Local Steelworkers #7886 Frederick, MD.
He enjoyed hot rods, antique cars, motorcycles, and spending time with his family.
Ronce is survived by his wife of 53 years Dottie Turner Knight; son Ronnie Lee Knight, I and his wife Missy of Dargan, MD; daughter Chaz N. Knight of Hagerstown, MD; grandson Ronnie “RK” Knight, II of Dargan, MD; grandson Diondai “Butchie” Gray of Dargan, MD; granddaughter Jessica Cunningham and her husband Justin of Falling Waters, WV; granddaughter Shelby Leggett and her husband Corey of Gapland, MD; granddaughter Kristina Wolfensberger and her husband Matt of Clear Spring, MD; great grandchildren Weston, Corbin, Cole, and Enzo; numerous nieces and nephews; good friends Peg McGraw and family.
He was predeceased by two sisters Kathleen Hetzel and Peg Myers and three brothers Morris H. Knight, Sr., Edward M. Knight Jr., and Terry E. Knight.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating. Interment will be in Samples Manor Cemetery Dargan, MD. Full military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
