Claude Eugene "Gene" Jordan

Sharpsburg, MD – Claude Eugene “Gene” Jordan, 79, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on March 18, 2024, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. 

He was born on May 28, 1944, in Williamsport, MD to the late Walter Keller and Margaret Armenta (Smith) Jordan. 

Gene was employed by Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown, MD for 38 years until the plant was closed. He also worked as a security guard for General Motors for 5 years until his retirement in 2003. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Among other awards, Gene was given an Army commendation medal for saving another soldier's life. 

Gene was a 1962 graduate of Boonsboro High School in Boonsboro, MD. 

He was a member of Manor Church of the Brethren in Tilghmanton, MD. 

Gene was a life member of the Improved Oder of Redmen Tribe #84 in Williamsport, MD, member of Joseph C. Herbert Post #222 American Legion in Clear Spring, MD, and W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW in Hagerstown, MD. Gene also enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and watching TV and Nascar. 

He is survived by his wife Barbara Ann (Koontz) Jordan of Sharpsburg, MD whom he married on April 24, 1964; son Rodney E. Jordan of Dover, DE; brother Nevin Jordan of Cearfoss, MD; grandsons Bradley Jordan and Zachary Jordan of Hagerstown, MD, 2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers Wayne Edward Jordan and Larry Keller Jordan. 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday March 21, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 12:00 pm (noon) on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday March 22, 2024, at 11:00 am with Chaplain Eric Verhulst officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, MD. Military honors will be provided by Joseph C. Herbert Post #222 American Legion Honor Guard.
