Hagerstown, MD - Larry James Slater, 64, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Washington, D.C.

Born, December 18, 1947 of Asheville, NC to the late James William and Mildred McGraw Morrison Slater.

He was employed by Frederick Medical Supplies of Frederick, MD until his retirement in 1996.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.

He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was a member of BPO Elks Winchester, VA, Lucketts Vol. Fire Dept. Lucketts, VA, Morris Frock Post #42 American Legion Hagerstown, MD and lifetime members of VFW W.D. Byron Post #1936 and Amvets Post #10 Hagerstown, MD.

Survivors Include:
Wife: Julie Duane Gantt Slater married Sept. 7, 1977 of Hagerstown, MD
Sister: Sandra P. Panganiban of Martinsburg, WV
Sister: Connie M. Straker of Littlestown, PA
Brother: Danny E. Slater, Sr. of Inwood, WV
Special Friends and Caretakers: Melody and Jim Brown of Hagerstown, MD
Numerous nieces, nephews and close friends

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00-2:00 pm.  Burial will be at a later date.
