Anna Jamison Obituary

Sharpsburg, MD – Anna Louise Jamison, 93, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD with her son and daughter by her side.

 

She was born on December 1, 1924 in Antietam, Maryland to the late Raymond and Mabel Jamison Waters.  At the death of her mother, Anna and her two brothers were raised by her maternal grandparents Clinton and Rose Jamison on a farm near Downsville.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thirman E. “Brainsy” Jamison on February 24, 1987.  They were married on Mother’s Day in 1943.

 

She was a 1942 graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD.

 

Anna Louise was employed by Fairchild Aircraft retiring in 1984.  She was previously employed by Baer Brothers of Hagerstown, MD, Doubleday Bookbinding of Smithsburg, MD, Musselman Apple of Inwood, WV, and Central Chemical of Hagerstown, MD. She served as Secretary for the Town of Sharpsburg for 37 years retiring at the age of 86.

 

She was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Sharpsburg, MD.

 

She was a member of Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

 

She was the first female to serve as a Town Council member in the State of Maryland. 

 

Anna Louise previously served as Secretary for Sharpsburg  Area EMS and served as an Election Judge for several years.

 

She is survived by her daughter and caretaker Debbie Jamison of Sharpsburg, MD; son Lynn Jamison of Sharpsburg, MD; grandson Troy Rupp of Kodak, TN; great granddaughter Alison Russell and her husband Tanner of Kodak, TN; many nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by her daughter Marjorie Jamison, three brothers Dallas Waters, Junior Waters, and Richard “Doc” Waters, sister Frances Houser, and her daughter in law Sandra “Sandy” Jamison.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Saturday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Andrea J. Ernest officiating.  Interment will be in Samples Manor Cemetery Dargan, MD.

 

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to our friends and family for their many thoughtful gestures of food, cards, and other support.

 

A special thanks goes to our neighbor and granddaughter by choice Tina Grim for her countless acts of kindness and devotion.  Also a special mention goes to Aubree (Tina’s granddaughter) who visited Grandma Jamison in ICU.  Aubree’s brothers, Bentley and Cole were also special to Grandma Jamison.
