Ashlie Elizabeth Knight 43

November 30, 1974 – December 22, 2017

The light here on earth that everyone knew as Ashlie Elizabeth Knight passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 22, 2017. She has now looked upon the face of our Lord and Savior, and with bare feet visiting all those who were waiting to welcome her.  In pain no more from the cancer that robbed her of life, she is smiling that ever present gorgeous smile she gave to one and all.  Her family’s hearts are missing a vital piece but are rejoicing in knowing she is where she has always known she would be.  Look up and see that bright star twinkling and know that it is Ashlie watching over all in death even as she did in life.

She was surrounded by Mom, siblings and spouses as she sweetly took her last breathes.  She was born at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 1974.  Her father, George W. “Bill” Knight, Jr. preceded her in death.  She was a graduate of Grace Academy and Hagerstown Junior College, both of Hagerstown, MD, Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, VA, and Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio.

Ashlie loved working with children and was employed with San Mar Children’s Home before moving to Ohio to pursue further studies.  While there she worked at Appleseed Mental Health in Ashland, Ohio.  Returning to Hagerstown she worked at Brooklane in Leitersburg, MD, and returned to Grace Academy as their school guidance counselor, a job she totally loved doing.

Ashlie was a member of several mental health organizations, a member of Post #236 American Legion Auxiliary Sharpsburg, MD, and a member of St. James Brethren Church where she sang with the Hosanna Praise team.  She is survived by her mother Linda Milburn Reid and her husband Donald, her sisters Melanie Leigh Sylvester and her husband Kane of Hagerstown, MD, Katie Scarlett Knight and her loving boyfriend Max Currie of Hopkins, MN, and her brothers J. Rhett Knight and his loving girlfriend Kelli Prokop of Pasadena, MD, and Christopher L. Cook and his wife Kristin of Hagerstown, MD.  And though there were many, many close and dear friends, she is sadly missed by her two best lifetime friends, Angel McClintock and Susanna Allen.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at St. James Brethren Church 17718 Lappans Rd. Fairplay, MD 21733 on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brad Selan officiating.  Entombment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to: John R.  Marsh Cancer Center for Colon Cancer 11110 Medical Campus Rd. Hagerstown, MD 21742.
