C. Thomas Bowers

St. James, MD – C. Thomas “Tom” Bowers, 81, of St. James, MD passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on November 1, 1935 in Downsville, MD to the late Donald Braydon and Amanda Irene Gossard Bowers.

He was a 1953 graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD.

Tom worked as a farmer, route truck driver for Hershey Ice Cream for 15 years and then started his appraisal career with First Federal Savings & Loan until 1986 when he became an independent fee appraiser with Wm. G. Bowen Inc.  He obtained the SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute in 1990 and was with Wm. G. Bowen Inc. until 2013.

He was a member of St. James Brethren Church since 1951 and served in numerous capacities. 

He was a member of District 12 Ruritan Club in the 80’s and lived in St. James for 33 years.  Later he and Harriette moved to the Paramount area and Tom joined the Longmeadow Lions Club. 

Tom loved God, country, children, grandchildren, farms, cows and Hershey’s Ice Cream.

Tom is survived by his wife Harriette Irene Myers Bowers whom she married Feb. 12, 1956; son Randal J. Bowers and his wife Kristal of Boonsboro, MD; daughter Robin M. Deadrick and her husband Douglas of Salem, NH; son Charles T. Bowers, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; granddaughter Emily Long and her husband Bradley of Cleremont, FL; granddaughter Jennifer Houser and her husband David of Downsville, MD; great grandsons Brayden Long and Blake Houser; brother James R. Bowers and his wife Linda of Hagerstown, MD; sister in law Loretta Bowers of Hagerstown, MD.

He was predeceased by a brother Robert L. Bowers.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Brethren Church on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Brad Selan officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
