Charles Edward Hawbaker, Sr.

Hagerstown, MD- Charles Edward Hawbaker, Sr., 79, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home.

He was born on August 13, 1938 in Clear Spring, Maryland to the late Rush Sr. and Mary Alice Bryan Hawbaker.

He was employed by Sears & Roebuck until his retirement.  He was previously employed by Mack Trucks Inc. for 20 years of Hagerstown, MD.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Rooks.

Charles was a member of Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD.

He is survived by his wife Joan Kathleen Hawbaker whom he married on October 1, 1993; daughter Sherri Schindel of Hancock, MD; daughter Karen Sease of Hagerstown, MD; son Charles Hawbaker, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD; stepson Michael Skubon of Charles Town, WV; grandchildren Amy, Katie, Boone, and Jason; great grandsons Landyn and Kiran; step grandchildren Garrick, Micah, and Bailey.

He was predeceased by his brother and sisters Frederick Hawbaker, Mildred Harbaugh, Dorothy Petticord, Rush Hawbaker, Jr., Martha Hundley, David Hawbaker, and Barbara Ramsey.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Hospice Chaplain Mike Simane officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 pm.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD. 

Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
