Deatta Giffin Obituary

Fairplay, MD – Deatta Mae Giffin, 79, of Fairplay, MD passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at her home.

 

She was born on March 4, 1939 in Antietam Furnace, Maryland to the late Otho James and Martha Irene Hutson Kretzer.

 

Deatta was a stay at home Mom she loved her husband of 49 years, her children and her grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Junior Giffin on February 3, 2013.

 

She was a member of Burnside First Church of God Sharpsburg, MD.

 

She is the last survivor of her siblings.

 

She is survived by her daughter Teresa Crawford and her husband Donnie of Williamsport, MD; daughter Laurie Wilhide of Hagerstown, MD; son Keith “Bo” Giffin and his wife Tonja of Boonsboro, MD; son Darrin Giffin and his wife Melissa of Boonsboro, MD; special sister in law and good friend Wilma Kretzer; grandchildren Tracy Knable, Cheryl Wiggins, Samantha Cohen, Sonya “Nicki” Wilhide, Heather Chrisman, Daniel Giffin, Katelyn Giffin, Colin Giffin, Jared Giffin, and Joshua Giffin; great grandchildren Jenna, Gracie, Noah, Natalie, Emma, Savannah, and Olivia; and many nieces and nephews.

Deatta was predeceased by her granddaughter Stacey Wilhide, four sisters Irene Crampton, Geraldine Shank, Dorothy Jones, and Norma Guessford, four brothers James Kretzer, Gardner Kretzer, Wayne Kretzer, Sr., and Otho Kretzer, Sr.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at Burnside First Church of God Sharpsburg, MD on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery Sharpsburg, MD.
