Esther Frances Wood

Inwood, WV – Esther Frances Wood, 80, of Inwood, WV and formerly of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hospice of the Panhandle Kearneysville, WV.

She was born on August 20, 1937 in Rockville, MD to the late John Henry and Florence Gertrude Parks Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Wood on January 26, 2017.

She was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD.

Esther was employed in Housekeeping for many years with various Motels in Montgomery County.

She was a member of Rockville Church of God Rockville, MD, where she was involved in the Gospel Group and was a Sunday School Teacher.

She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.

Esther was a member of Gaithersburg Volunteer Fire Company Washington Grove Station 8 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter Karen K. Rutherford and her husband Perry of Inwood, WV; daughter Sharon S. Fields and her late husband Junior of Tazwell, VA; daughter Thelma J. Wood of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Linda E. Connley and her late husband Kevin of Martinsburg, WV; daughter Victoria L. Dalton and her late husband Greg of Gaithersburg, MD; son James R. Wood and his girlfriend Lou Lou of Falling Waters, WV; sister Sandy Myers of PA; brother Melvin Roberts of Wheaton, MD; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 6 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 grandson.

Graveside services will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park Rockville, MD on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Matthew Wood officiating.
