Faye L. Bowers

Williamsport, MD – Faye L. Bowers, 82, of Williamsport, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Ravenwood Nursing Care Center.

Born, October 30, 1934 at Huyett, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elmer and Bertha Messersmith Cavender.

Faye married Virgil L. “Skip” Bowers in 1952, and celebrated 65 years of marriage this past June. They lived in Williamsport until moving to Somerford Place and Home in Hagerstown, MD in 2016.

Faye graduated from Williamsport High School in 1952.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and later attended Valley Assembly of God with Skip.

She worked at the Willcraft Hosiery Mills Inc. in Williamsport until its closing.  She obtained her Realtor’s license and had a brief career as a Realtor.  She retired from Vishay-Angstrom Precision Inc. in 2000.

Her interests included gardening, quilting, travel, baking, and reading.  Faye’s greatest joy and source of pride was her family; especially her beloved grandchildren.  After retirement, Faye was a devoted care provider to her brothers and her sisters.

Faye is survived by her husband Virgil L. “Skip” Bowers; son Kim Bowers and his wife Michele of Williamsport; granddaughter Megan Wilson and her husband James of Martinsburg, WV; grandson Dr. Patrick Bowers of Erie, PA; sister Mary Alice Bricker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Paul, Charles Jr., Kenneth, Wilford, Floyd, and Donald Cavender; and sisters C. Louise Giffin and Ruth Whipp.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert C. Jones officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
