Funkstown, Maryland- Frances Ernestine Ecton, 84 of Funkstown, MD passed away on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at Greenfield Senior Living in Hagerstown, MD.
Born March 5, 1934 in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Monroe and Frances Viola Walker Nelson.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Funkstown, MD where she was a member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of Via de Cristo and Red Hat Society.
Frances worked as a bookkeeper for D.M. Bowman when the trucking business started for 18 years. She also worked as a School Bus Assistant for special need children for the Washington County Board of Education until she retired.
She volunteered with Hospice for many years.
Although she loved the role of being a wife and mother, her most treasured role was being a Mee-Maw.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years Elmer T. Ecton, Sr.; daughter Debra Thomas and her husband Gary of Fairplay, MD; son Rick Beard of Funkstown, MD; son Rodney Beard and his wife Verna of Williamsport, MD; son Tommy Ecton and his wife Dominique of Weston, WV; stepdaughter Brenda Hebb and her husband Richard of Big Pool, MD; stepdaughter Karen LeMaster and her husband Raymond of Falling Waters, WV; stepson Elmer Ecton, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Hagerstown, MD; stepson Michael Ecton and his wife Christie of Hagerstown, MD; stepson Monte Ecton and his wife Peggy of Sharpsburg, MD; stepson Darrell Ecton of Kearneysville, WV; sister Barbara King and her husband Wilbur of Funkstown, MD; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother Ernest “Sonny” Nelson, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Lee Brumback officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.
