Hagerstown, MD – Galen Charles “Punch” Ulrich, 72, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on April 12, 1946 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania to the late Charles William Ulrich and Arlene Delores Brookens Gelwicks.
He attended Chambersburg Schools.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving with the Navy Seals in Vietnam.
Punch was employed as a Lt. with the Maryland Correctional Institute in Hagerstown, MD until retiring in 2010. He was previously employed as a Brick Mason.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Hagerstown, MD.
He was also a member of Morris Frock Post #42 American Legion Hagerstown, MD, Pride M.C., Blue Ridge Sportsmen’s Association, North American Rod & Gun Club, Conococheague Tribe #84 I.O.R.M. Williamsport, MD, and NRA.
Punch enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife Carol Raidt Ulrich whom he married February 6, 1972; daughter Jennifer S. Lucas and her husband Robert of Naples, FL; daughter Erin E. Ringus and her husband Sonny of Hagerstown, MD; sister Bonnie Heinbaugh of Chambersburg, PA; sister Donna Rhone of South Mountain, PA; brother Harold Bateman of Chambersburg, PA; grandchildren Brandon, Alyx, Gage, Gavin, Regan, Alexis, Katie, and Victoria; great grandson Rylan; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Cindy Garland and a brother Lynn Ulrich.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Saturday for the convenience of family and friends.
