George Stumbaugh Obituary

Williamsport, MD – George Monroe “Sonny” Stumbaugh, 87, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his home.

 

He was born on May 14, 1932 in Williamsport, MD to the late Roy Jacob and Mary Amanda Lewis Stumbaugh.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, May Elizabeth Dorsey Stumbaugh in 2009.

 

George was the Owner and Operator of George’s Interiors in Williamsport, MD for over 30 years until his retirement in 1998.

 

He was a life member of Downsville Church of the Brethren Downsville, MD.

 

George was a member of Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM of Williamsport, MD.  He was also a former member of Williamsport Rotary.
 

He was one of the last surviving singers with the Singing Brethren’s Group that recorded two records.

 

He is survived by his son Michael Stumbaugh, Sr. and his better half and George’s caregiver Sam Tuch of Williamsport, MD; granddaughter Amanda Smith and her husband Dustin of Hagerstown, MD; grandson Michael Stumbaugh, Jr. and his girlfriend Constance of Williamsport, MD; great granddaughter Tiegan Smith at home; nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his sisters Frances Ray and Eleanor Summers; brothers Charles Stumbaugh and Paul Stumbaugh.

 

A memorial service will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 35 W. Potomac St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday, January 18, 2019                               at 11:00 am with Pastor Kim Nunberg, Pastor Wilkie Nunn, and Pastor Earl L. Summers officiating.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
