Williamsport, MD – Harold Wesley “Jack” Shipley, Jr. passed away at his home into the arms of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

 

He was born on February 9, 1944 in Funkstown, MD to the late Harold Wesley Sr. and Margaret Irene Moore Shipley.

 

He was employed with Redland Brick at Cushwa Plant Williamsport, MD for 35 years until retiring on March 1, 2017.  He was previously employed as a Master Pump Specialist and Well Driller for 20 years.

 

He attended Calvary Temple Williamsport, MD and Emmanuel Baptist Temple Hagerstown, MD.

 

Jack was a member of the Western Maryland Sportsman’s Club, NRA, and umpired at Halfway Little League for many years.

 

Known to family and friends as “Jack” he will be remembered for his kind heart and gentle spirit that would leave a lasting impression to anyone he met. He cherished time spent with his family, who were always the light of his life. He had a great love for God, family and friends. He enjoyed going to the mountains and enjoying all of God’s creations.

 

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Mary E. Kretzer-Ellis-Shipley; son Harold W. “John” Shipley, III and his wife Krista of Falling Waters, WV; stepson Ron W. Ellis of Hagerstown, MD; stepson Chad G. Ellis of Hagerstown, MD; grandson Wesley T. Shipley and wife Emily of Williamsport, MD; granddaughter Carrie A. Loveless of Ole Miss University; granddaughter Miranda E. Shipley of Falling Waters, WV; great grandson Keagan M. Shipley of Williamsport, MD; sister Joyce A. Caudill of Campton, KY; sister Sandra L. Cooper of Augusta, GA; many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

Jack was predeceased by a sister Alberta Thornton.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert V. Robinson and Rev. Ed Hampton officiating.
