Harry Willis Bussard

Sharpsburg, MD – Harry Willis Bussard, 88, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on September 7, 1931 in Antietam Furnace, MD to the late Roy A. and Mary C. Kretzer Bussard.

He attended Boonsboro High School Boonsboro, MD.

Harry was employed by North American Housing until his retirement in 1994.  He previously worked at Pangborn for 18 years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg, MD for 62 years.  He served as Junior Warden, vestry person, and acolyte at the church for many years.

Harry was an honorary lifetime member of Potomac Valley Fire Company in Dargan, MD.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Barbara Bussard; sister Phyllis Pierce of Boonsboro, MD; sister Norma Hilliard of Shepherdstown, WV; sister Ruby Houser of Sharpsburg, MD; sister Judy Renner of Sharpsburg, MD; sister Connie Knight of Sharpsburg; special nephew Michael Ecton and family; special niece Wendy Downin and family; many other loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters Carolyn Rowland, Linda Myers, and Anna McCoy; brothers Daniel Leroy Bussard, Calvin Ray Bussard, Alfredo I. Bussard, and Carroll P. Bussard.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 209 W. Main St. Sharpsburg, MD on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Patrick Pierce officiating and homily given by The Rev. Mark Wastler.  Inurnment immediately following the memorial service in St. Paul’s Columbarium.
