Keedysville, MD – Harry Leroy “Buck” Ward, 81, of Keedysville, MD passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Ravenwood Nursing Home Hagerstown, MD with his daughter at his side holding his hand.

 

He was born on July 29, 1936 in Big Pool, MD to the late Leo Henry and Amy Ann Drury Ward.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Judy Marlene Canfield Ward on February 25, 2017.

 

Harry had several jobs throughout his life in various maintenance and custodial areas, most recently was the head custodian at Williamsport United Methodist Church for 13 years whom he considered his church family. His true career was farming. He helped farm from a young age, had a true love for the land and all of God’s animals. Harry inherited his family farm as the youngest remaining child living at home and stayed faithful to it until his health declined.

 

He was of the Protestant Faith.

 

He is survived by his only daughter, Amanda M. Morgan of Hagerstown, MD; 2 grandchildren Brady Semler and Morgan Semler of Boonsboro, MD; grandpoodle Pixie; brother Clyde D. Ward, Sr. of Sharpsburg, MD; brother Alfred Ward of Smithsburg, MD; as well as many nieces and nephews who fondly remember their special times with “Uncle Buck”.

 

In addition to his parents, and wife he was also predeceased by seven sisters Mildred Ward, Molly Marshall, Blanche Violet, Sally Milburn, Julia Myers, Minnie Ward, and Hazel Myers; and three brothers Earl Ward, James Ward, and John Ward.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Graveside services will be held at Mt. View Cemetery Sharpsburg, MD on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Susan E. Boehl officiating.
