Williamsport, Maryland-Ivan Junior “Jack” Holland, 96 of Williamsport, MD passed away on Wednesday August 7, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD

 

Born July 13, 1923 in Pinesburg, MD he was the son of the late Ivan McAllister and Susie Leigh Holland.

 

He was a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High School.

 

Jack was a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army Air Force serving as a Tail Gunner on a B-17 in WWII.  He flew 34 missions in the European Theater, earning the Air Medal, with 4 oak leaf clusters, 3 bronze battle stars and the good conduct medal.

 

He retired from Charlton Brothers Transportation as a Terminal Manager in Hagerstown and Cumberland, MD after 46 years.

 

He was a lifelong member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Williamsport, MD where he volunteered with the Food Bank, was a member of the Finance Committee, the Rehoboth Bowling League and Bible Study.

 

He was a member of the Williamsport Lions Club, the Washington County Traffic Club, was an avid sports fan, he loved the Baltimore Orioles, the Maryland Terps, fishing, his family and his community. 

 

Jack is survived by his wife of 75 years Audrey Fae Wiley Holland, 4 daughters Connie Spong, Sandy Hose and husband Ed, Angie Boyer all of Hagerstown, MD, Kristie Baker of Williamsport, MD, a son Doug Holland and wife Susan of Hyattsville, MD, a brother Larry Holland and wife Sandra of Elkton, MD, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters June Shank, Jean Shupp and Nancy Carter and a brother Ray Holland.

 

The family will receive friends on Monday August 12, 2019 from 11:30-1:00pm at Rehoboth United Methodist Church 30 E. Salisbury St. Williamsport, MD 21795.

 

Funeral services will follow at the Rehoboth United Methodist Church at 1:00pm on Monday with Rev. Michael Bennett Officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD with full military honors provided by the Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Rehoboth United Methodist Church 30 E. Salisbury St. Williamsport, MD 21795.
