James Edgar "Jimmy" Grimes

Clear Spring, MD – James Edgar “Jimmy” Grimes, 77, of Clear Spring, MD passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on November 29, 1940 in Halfway, Maryland to the late William E. and Frances Viola Crawford Grimes.

He was a 1958 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

Jimmy was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc. Hagerstown, MD until retiring in 2001.

He attended Virginia Ave. Church of God Halfway, MD.

He was a member of Joseph C. Herbert Post #222 SAL of Clear Spring, MD and U.A. W. Local #171 of Hagerstown, MD where he served in various capacities.

Jimmy was a car enthusiast. He was a loving family man, good friend to everyone, he had very little growing up and always made sure his family’s needs were met, and was always a man of his word.

He is survived by his wife Alice Jean Scharf Grimes whom he married September 5, 1959; daughter Cherie D. Haddock and her husband Mark of Hagerstown, MD; sister Laura Ann Bowers and her husband Thomas of Hagerstown, MD; sister Garnetta Grimes Shillingburg of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren James N. Burns and Mark B. Grimes, II; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was predeceased by his son Mark Bradley Grimes, granddaughter Amiee M. Burns, two sisters Ellen Foote and her husband Wayne and Beverly Grimes Taylor and her husband Fonrose, three brothers William A. Grimes and his wife Frances, Samuel H. Grimes and his wife Nancy, and Donald L. Grimes; brother in law James D. Shillingburg.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Virginia Ave. Church of God 17306 Virginia Ave. Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor A. Paul Harne and Pastor George Bell officiating.  Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery Hagerstown, MD.
