James Holtzman Obituary

Downsville, Maryland-James O. “Jim” Holtzman, 83 of Downsville, MD passed away on Friday April 19, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

 

Born in Williamsport, MD on December 16, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph M. Sr. and Blanche C. Kelly Holtzman.

 

He attended Williamsport High School.

 

He was a Mechanic and owned and operated Jim Holtzman’s Garage in Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport, MD.

 

Jim loved to play his guitar and enjoyed working on cars and farm equipment.

 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty Lou Knode Holtzman, a son David E. Holtzman of Falling Waters, WV, 4 grandchildren Heidi N. Brooks and husband Mike of Hagerstown, MD, James A. Holtzman and wife Amy of Martinsburg, WV, Ashley D. Holtzman of Waynesboro, PA and April L. Holtzman of Martinsburg, WV, 9 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, 2 brothers William “Bill” Holtzman of Myrtle Beach, SC and Gary Holtzman of Pinesburg, MD and a sister Ruby Fraley of Florida.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter in law Valerie Holtzman, 2 sisters Anna M. Walls and C. Lorraine Kimble and a brother Joseph M. "Sonny" Holtzman, Jr.

 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 24, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD 21795.  For the convenience of family and friends the funeral home will open Wednesday at 9:00am.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 25, 2019 at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Doris J. Doub officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.

 

Memorial donations may be made to Downsville Church of the Brethren 8228 Dam #4 Rd. Williamsport, MD 21795.
