Joan Kathleen Hawbaker

Hagerstown, MD- Joan Kathleen Hawbaker, 72, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at her home.

She was born on September 29, 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Edward R. and Kathleen Ann Collins Mack.

She was preceded in death her husband, Charles E. Hawbaker, Sr. on February 2, 2018.

She was employed as a Claims Examiner by the State of Maryland Unemployment Office until her retirement.

Joan was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church Halfway, MD.

She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

She is survived by her son Michael Skubon of Charles Town, WV;daughter Karen Sease of Hagerstown, MD; stepdaughter Sherri Schindel of Hancock, MD; stepson Charles Hawbaker, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren Katie, Garrick, Micah, and Bailey; step grandchildren Amy, Boone, and Jason; step great grandchildren Landyn and Kiran; sister Kathleen DaCosta and her husband Dave of Pittsburgh, PA; brother Patrick Mack and his wife Mary Lou of Valley City, OH.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheauge St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Prayers will be offered at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church 17630 Virginia Ave. Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:00 am with Father John Jicha celebrant.  The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am at the church on Thursday.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
