Hagerstown, MD - Loretta Velma Bowers, 81, of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Kasson, WV passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Williamsport Retirement Village Williamsport, MD.
She was born on May 5, 1938 in Kasson, WV to the late John Earl and Ota Eleanora App Loughridge.
Loretta was a graduate of Kasson High School in Kasson, WV. She attended Maryland Medical Secreterial School in Hagerstown, MD and Hagerstown Junior College.
She retired in 2008 from General Services Administration after 35 years.
Loretta was a member of St. James Brethren Church St. James, MD. She previously taught Sunday School and was currently a Deacon. She was a pillar of faith, and a lifelong member.
She was a member of South Side Senior Bowling League, an avid gardener, reader, and was a world traveler. Her favorite places were Ireland and her own backyard.
She is survived by her son Steven Lee Bowers and his wife Linda of Clear Spring, MD; daughter Kelly Anne Blacksten and her husband Doug of Union Bridge, MD; daughter Jody Lynne Villalba of Souderton, PA; Shona Eakin and her husband Mike whom she loved like her children; brother Carl A. Loughridge of Colliers, WV; twin sister Lorraine Myers of Annapolis, MD; three grandsons Cody, Eric, and Daniel; three granddaughters Nikki, Grace, and Lydia; Elizabeth and Brandon whom she loved like grandchildren.
Loretta was predeceased by brothers Lorn Loughridge, Ellis Loughridge, Roy Loughridge, and Harold Loughridge; sisters Juanita Auvil and Jean Lewis; and son in law Esteban Villalba.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. James Brethren Church St. James, MD on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at
11:00 am with Tim McMillan officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Shiloh Church of the Brethren Church Cemetery in Kasson, WV on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 11:00 am.
