Pinesburg, MD – Martha Lavania Speaker, 89, of Pinesburg, MD passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 24, 1929 in Clear Spring, MD to the late David Martin and Susan Anna Hanson Higgins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Ellsworth “Pap” Speaker in 2004.
She was a Homemaker. She was a self-employed Housekeeper for over 20 years and delivered newspapers for the Herald Mail for 18 years.
Martha was a member all of her life at Gateway Ministries and the original Williamsport Church of God where she taught Sunday School.
She attended Ravenwood Adult Day Care.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca J. Rowland of Williamsport, MD; daughter Phyllis L. Giffin and her husband Larry of Keedysville, MD; daughter Sharon L. Kimmel and her husband Bob of Fairplay, MD; daughter Debra M. Churchey and her husband Kenny of Falling Waters, WV; son Ronald E. Speaker and his wife Peggy of Hagerstown, MD; son Michael R. Speaker, Sr. and his wife Tracy of Williamsport, MD; son Roger L. Speaker and his wife Angie of Downsville, MD; sister Gloria L. Armstrong of Hagerstown, MD; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
She is also survived by other special friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her son in law Art A. Rowland, Sr., 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert V. Robinson and Pastor Dale Higgins. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.
