Mary Ann Kriner Obituary

Hagerstown, MD – Mary Ann Kriner, 81, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at her home.

 

She was born on March 23, 1937 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Harry Russell Sr. and Thelma Mae Knepper Hesson.

 

She was a 1955 graduate of Clear Spring High School, received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Frostburg State Teacher’s College in 1959.  She received her Master’s Degree at Shippensburg State Teacher’s College.

 

Mary Ann taught elementary education for 35 years in Washington County, the majority at Williamsport Elementary. She retired in 1999.

 

Her most precious times were those spent with her boys, grandchildren and the rest of her family and friends.  Family values were most important and she was always there to give guidance, encouragement, understanding and unconditional love.

 

She enjoyed playing the piano.

 

She was a member of St. John’s UCC Clear Spring, MD. She sang in the choir and was a devoted member for many years.

 

Mary Ann was a member of the Washington County Retired Educational Personnel Association, Sigma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, The International Honorary Society of Women Educators, Queen Esther Chapter #3 OES of Hagerstown, MD, Red Hat Society, and she volunteered at the Discovery Station of Hagerstown, MD.

 

She is survived by her husband Wayne E. Kriner, Sr. whom she married June 28, 1959; son Wayne E. “Ed” Kriner, Jr. and special friend Tina Turner of Williamsport, MD; son William R. “Russ” Kriner and his wife Kristine of Hagerstown, MD; son W. Rodney “Rodge” Kriner and his wife Paula of Williamsport, MD; son Matthew A. “Matt” Kriner and his wife Rebecca of Hagerstown, MD; half-sisters Nicki Myers and Patty Binkley; half-brother Mike Hesson; grandchildren Melanie Kriner, Kaitlyn Kriner, Kaelii Stout, Regan Stout, Cole Kriner, Jacob Kriner, and Alexis Kriner; great grandson Leo Kriner; and her beloved nieces and nephews.

 

She was predeceased by a grandson Noah Wayne Kriner, sister L. Joan Lizer, brother Harry R. Hesson, Jr., and her stepmother Lou.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles M. Mackley officiating.  Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery of Clear Spring, Maryland.
