N. Dean Berger

Smithsburg, MD – N. Dean Berger, 78, of Smithsburg, MD passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on August 15, 1939 in Leitersburg, MD to the late Almyer Emanuel and Vera Catherine Sheffler Berger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, W. Jean Goodyear Berger on December 4, 2017.

He was a 1957 graduate of North Hagerstown High School Hagerstown, MD.

Dean was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc. of Hagerstown, MD for 30 years until retiring in 1993.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Leitersburg, MD.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

In his younger years Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy Bradley and her husband Doug of Keedysville, MD; daughter Deana Cordell and her husband Rick of Greencastle, PA; sister Lois Gerring of Brookhaven, PA; sister Joyce Yates of Brookhaven, PA; sister Joan Noll of Front Royal, VA; brother Walt Berger of Conway, SC; grandchildren Jennifer Pepper and her husband Joe of Myersville, MD and Danielle Grosh and her wife Daphene of Mont Alto, PA; great grandsons Braden and David; also survived by a step grandson Nick Cordell and his family of Illinois.

Dean was predeceased by a sister Gloria Berger, brother Charles Berger and a great granddaughter Jaiden Adkins.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Services and burial will be private.
