Phyllis Louise Kopyta

Williamsport, MD – Phyllis Louise Kopyta, 94, of Williamsport, MD beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Homewood Retirement Center Williamsport, MD.

She was born on December 6, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph Thomas and Bessie Louise Schwartz Melia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Kopyta in 2005.

She was a Homemaker.

She proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

She was a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church Williamsport, MD.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter Frances Fleming and her husband Robert of Olney, MD and their children David, Brian, and Alan; son John M. Kopyta and wife Dianna of Waynesboro, PA and their children Phillip, Jessica and Kevin; son Laurence Kopyta and wife Deborah of Wexford, PA and their children Joseph and Valerie; daughter the late Karen Eichelberger and her husband Darrell of Hagerstown, MD and their children Eric and Adam; son Paul Kopyta of Germantown, MD; daughter Melinda Cawley and her husband James of Frederick, MD and their children Conner, Kate and Maggie; and 8 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, husband, and daughter she was also predeceased by two sisters Helen Dewar and Lucille Moser.

A memorial service will be held at Homewood Chapel 16505 Virginia Ave. Williamsport, MD on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 10:30 am with Pastor Jeff Shull officiating. 

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 12:00 (noon) with military honors provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, Maryland.
