Raymond Donald Grove, Jr.

Boonsboro, MD – Raymond Donald Grove, Jr., 72, of Boonsboro, MD passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 peacefully at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on November 10, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Raymond Donald Sr. and Eileen Allen Grove.

He was a 1964 graduate of South Hagerstown High School Hagerstown, MD.

Ray was employed as a Salesman by Builder’s First Source Point of Rocks, MD for 17 years until his retirement.  He also worked for Lowe’s in Hagerstown and Frederick for 23 years.

He was a veteran of the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church Boonsboro, MD where he enjoyed helping with the dinners and the community breakfasts. 

He was also a member of Antietam Lodge #197 AF&AM; Ali Ghan Shriners of Cumberland, MD; Order of the Eastern Star Hagerstown Chapter; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd Degree Baltimore and Frederick; Elks Lodge #378 Hagerstown, MD; Clopper Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD; Redmen Tribe #155 Boonsboro, MD.

Ray served as a Board member for the Boonsboro Ambulance & Rescue Service and was a former Boonsboro Town Councilman for 16 years.

Ray enjoyed volunteering with the Great Boonsboro Rescue Company Carnival and helping with the Ambulance Company Barbeques.

He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and any activities that involved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda Kepler Grove; daughter Cheri Sharpless and her husband Allen of Boonsboro, MD; daughter Kelly Souryal and her husband Jeff of Baltimore, MD; grandsons Ryan, Nicholas, Brett, and Connor; granddaughter Riley; brother in law Gary Seavolt of Clear Spring, MD; sister in law Joan Miller of Hagerstown, MD; several nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Marguerite Seavolt and a sister in law Jessie Ambrose.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Monday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Cindy Caldwell officiating.  Interment will be in Boonsboro Cemetery Boonsboro, MD.
