Falling Waters, WV – Raymond Bowie Hardt, 93, of Falling Waters, WV passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 17, 2018 surrounded by loving family.
He was born on November 25, 1924 in Marlowe, West Virginia to the late Rev. Howard E. and Lucy Saum Hardt.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleta Wiley Hardt in 1973.
He was a 1943 graduate of Martinsburg High School Martinsburg, WV. He was also a 1953 graduate of Montgomery Junior College in Rockville, MD with an Associate of Arts Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was employed by Dupont Company in Falling Waters, WV for 33 years until retiring in 1986.
Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He served aboard the USS General Omar Bundy in the Pacific and the Atlantic.
He was a charter member of The Good Shepherd Ministries in Longmeadow.
He was very involved in Mission work.
He was a member and Past Commander of Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD and was a lifetime charter member of the Last Man’s Club.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn S. Miller Hardt whom he married April 25, 1987; daughter Ronna K. Arnold and her husband Patrick of Somers Point, NJ; daughter Beth L. Arrowood and her husband Gary of Bradenton, FL; son David A. Hardt and his wife Natalie of Discovery Bay, CA; son Michael E. Hardt and his wife Michelle of Houston, TX; sister Margaret Hoover of York, PA; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; special longtime friend Daniel Perrell of Falling Waters, WV.
He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at The Good Shepherd Ministries on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Steven McCullough officiating. Graveside services will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
