Richard Theodore Ebersole

Williamsport, Maryland- Richard Theodore Ebersole, 83 of Williamsport, MD passed away on Thursday August 23, 2018 at his home.

Born August 8, 1935 in Sharpsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence H. and Dora G. Burgan Ebersole.

His wife of 62 years, Doris Ann Ebersole passed away on June 7, 2018.

He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and served in the United States Army.  He retired from General Motors in Martinsburg, WV.

Richard was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Hagerstown, MD, a member of UAW Local #1590 in Martinsburg, WV and the Washington County Umpires Association.  Richard umpired high school baseball, little league baseball and umpired at the Maryland Correctional facilities for many years.  He also refereed high school volleyball in Washington County and flag football in Hagerstown.

He is survived by a daughter Lori A. Bennett of Maugansville, MD, a son Richard T. Ebersole II of Williamsport, MD, 2 granddaughters Melody Kennedy of Fairplay, MD and Ashley Doyle of Falling Waters, WV, a grandson Richard Bennett, Jr. of Maugansville, MD, 6 great grandchildren Jamie, Dominick, Alexis, Morgan, Madison and Brooke and a sister Reva Souders of Williamsport, MD.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Roy Ebersole, Clarence Ebersole and Melvin Ebersole and 2 sisters Margaret Souders and Annabelle Staubs.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 28, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD 21795.  For the convenience of friends and family the funeral home will open Tuesday at 9:00am.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 11:00am with Pastor Chuck Schroer and Chaplain Jeffrey Casto officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.
