Richard Allan "Dick" Koontz, Sr.

Williamsport, MD- Richard Allan “Dick” Koontz, Sr., 76 of Williamsport, MD passed away on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at his home.

Born in Williamsport, MD on October 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Walter Samuel and Mildred Frances Kidwell Koontz, and was raised by the late William H. and Anna May Kidwell Shumaker.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Linda Jean Koontz in 2015.

He was a 1959 graduate of Williamsport High School.

Dick retired from Mack Trucks as a supervisor in 1996 and retired in April of 2018 from the Washington County Liquor Board.

He was a member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club where he was a Past President, Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM and the Sons of American Legion Post #202 all of Williamsport, MD.  He was a member of the Little Club in Hagerstown, MD and the Potomac Valley Horseman’s Association.

Dick is survived by 2 sons Richard A. Koontz, Jr. of Boonsboro, MD and Daniel L. Koontz and his special friend Sharon Sellers of Williamsport, MD, a brother Daniel Koontz of Brick Township, NJ, 3 grandchildren Holly Renee of Frederick, MD, Kevin Richard of Williamsport, MD and Keith Clinton of Boonsboro, MD and 2 great grandchildren Alivia Rose and Jordan Lyn.

In addition to his parents, the folks who raised him and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Charles and 2 sisters Lois and Donna.

The family will receive friends on Sunday July 1, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD.  For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will open Sunday at 12 noon.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 2, 2018 at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.
