Robert Lee "Bob" Banzhoff, Sr.

Hagerstown, Maryland-Robert Lee “Bob” Banzhoff, Sr., 90 of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Sunday January 5, 2020 at his home.

Born May 9, 1929 in Williamsport, MD, he was the son of the late Harry Norman, Sr. and Pauline Beatrice Barnhart Banzhoff.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Anna Rae Gossard Banzhoff on April 29, 2012.

He was a 1947 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He worked as a Correctional Officer at MCI-Hagerstown and MCTC-Hagerstown for 33 years until retiring in 1988.  He previously worked at the Federal Silk Mill in Williamsport, MD.

Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hagerstown, a life member of the Western Maryland Sportsman’s Club and a life member of the North American Rod and Gun Club.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid duck pin bowler and golfer and loved playing cards with his buddies.

He is survived by his daughters Mary Louise Reichert of Hagerstown, MD and Diana J. Banzhoff and husband Christopher J. Zajac of Baltimore, MD, a son Robert L. Banzhoff, Jr. and wife Thelma “TJ” of Hagerstown, MD, sisters Catherine “Sis” Spangler and husband Gene of Downsville, MD, Shirley Koogle of Downsville, MD and Bonnie Lee Moats of Williamsport, MD, brothers Harry N. “Had” Banzhoff, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Williamsport, MD and Thomas Banzhoff of Williamsport, MD, grandchildren George J. Reichert, IV, Jared E. Reichert and wife Stefanie, Joseph C. Zajac, John R. Zajac, Leonard M. Zajac, Rebecca M. Zajac, Kenneth B. Banzhoff and wife Julie, Robert L. Banzhoff, III and wife Felisa and Elizabeth A. Dayhoff and husband Gerald, great grandchildren Liam, Shelby, Trace, Liezel, Cassandra, Jonathan, Andrew, Olivia and Kohen and a great-great grandson Christian.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by his infant brother Joseph Banzhoff.

The family will receive friends on Thursday January 9, 2020 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD 21795.  For the convenience of family and friends the funeral home will open Thursday at 9:00am.

Funeral services will be held on Friday January 10, 2020 at 11:00am with Rev. Father Joseph Langan officiating at the Osborne Funeral Home and burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, MD.
