Ruth Virginia Younker Malott

Ruth Virginia Younker Malott, 96, formerly of Williamsport, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Reeder’s Memorial Home Boonsboro, MD.

Born in Millstone, MD on Tuesday, November 22, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Harry Edgar and Florence Emily Myers Younker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ardel Malott, Sr., in 1971, they were married in 1941.

She attended Weller school near Hancock and in her early years attended Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren.  She was a member of Downsville Christian Church, Downsville, MD.

Ruth was a homemaker and was also employed as a housekeeper for several families and was last employed at Jeanne’s Confectionary in Williamsport.

Ruth was a member of the American Legion, Potomac Post #202 Ladies Auxiliary and formerly a member of Degree of Pocahontas Red Feather Council #59 both of Williamsport, MD.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Connie L. Fazenbaker of Hagerstown; a son, Sterling L. “Stars” Malott and his wife Marilyn of Williamsport; daughter in law, Valerie Malott of Williamsport; a sister Edna L. Younker of Clearville, PA; six grandchildren Emily Crabtree, Christopher Malott, Darin Fazenbaker, Jason Malott, Kari Campbell and Daniel Malott; seven great grandchildren, Brittany, Ryan, Courtney, Griffin, Charleigh, Sara and Luke; her faithful companion, Robert A. “Bob” Speilman of Boonsboro, MD and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her oldest son, Glenn A. “Skip” Malott, Jr., in 2014 and brothers, James Younker, Sr., Leo Younker, Wallace Younker, Lloyd Younker, Robert Younker and Ray Younker, Sr.; sisters Mary Moats, Kittie Weller, Alice Younker and Hilda Palmer.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 am with Hospice Chaplain Jeff Casto officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am.
