Sharpsburg, MD – Thomas Wesley Bussard, Sr., 91 of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at his home.
He was born on January 8, 1928 in Mt. Briar, MD to the late Franklin Howell and Bertha Florence Ferguson Bussard.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Patricia Highberger Bussard in 1987 and his second wife Carolyn Lineweaver Bussard in 2014.
Thomas was an Iron Worker with Local #568 of Cumberland, MD and retired from Local #5 Washington, D.C.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Sea Bee Division during World War II.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Sharpsburg, MD.
Thomas was also a member of Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM Williamsport, MD; Hagerstown Chapter #89 Order of the Eastern Star Antietam Lodge AF&AM Keedysville, MD; 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. He was a Shriner. He was also a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Moose Lodge #2462 Williamsport,MD; American Legion Post #236 Sharpsburg, MD; Amvets; Woodmen of the World; Quarter Horse Congress; and Virginia Reining Horse Association.
He is survived by his son Thomas W. Bussard, Jr. of Florida; son Scott D. Bussard of Sharpsburg, MD; stepdaughter Kelly Shambles of Tuttle, OK; companion Nancy Hebb of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren Michelle Cunningham of Hagerstown, MD; Kami Carbaugh of Big Pool, MD; Sarah Osborne of Charles Town, WV; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers Franklin Junior Bussard, Merle Eugene Bussard, Atlee Hezzie Bussard, and Harold Lloyd Bussard; and one sister Faye Ardella Shepherd.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends. A masonic service will be held Sunday evening during the viewing.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Andrea Ernest officiating. Military graveside services will be provided by Clopper Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD. Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery Sharpsburg, MD.
