Wayne Franklin Dorsey

Hagerstown, MD – Wayne Franklin Dorsey, 78, of Hagerstown, MD passed away surrounded by his family peacefully into heaven on March 15, 2018.

He was born on February 15, 1940 in Fairplay, MD to the late Elisha Columbus and Anne Camilla Weaver Dorsey.

He was a 1957 graduate of North Hagerstown High School Hagerstown, MD.

Wayne was an active member of the community.

He is co-owner and founding partner for 53 years of the Dorsey Brothers Floor and Wall covering business. 

He was an active member of the Cornerstone Community Church formerly known as the Grace Brethren Church where he offered his expertise in flooring, remodeling and building.

His love for the outdoors and hunting led him to be a member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club, Packhorse Lodge, and Mathias Hunt Club.

He was also a member of the Halfway Fire Department Halfway, Maryland.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife whom he married November 6, 1965 Marlene Elise Doran Dorsey; his children Wayne Dorsey, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Hagerstown, MD and Tina Dorsey Hawbaker and her husband Jeffrey of Alva, Florida.  He was the youngest of 9 children survived by brothers Roger Dorsey of Clear Spring, MD and Ralph Dorsey of Hagerstown, MD.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Also survived by his loving granddog Nala.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by older siblings Carl Dorsey, Fannie Dorsey Taylor, Irene Dorsey Zimmerly, Howard Dorsey, Donald Dorsey, and Ruby Dorsey Eavey.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at Cornerstone Community Church 20519 Beaver Creek Rd. Hagerstown, MD on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dean Pryor officiating.  Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.
