Abbie Jean Draper

Sharpsburg, MD – Abbie Jean Draper, 78, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at her home.

She was born on September 7, 1941 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Eugene Basil and Julia Lane Bender Kline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Leroy Draper on August 12, 2019.  They were married August 30, 1959.

She was a 1959 graduate of Boonsboro High School in Boonsboro, MD.

Abbie and her late husband Melvin owned and operated many businesses throughout their married life in the Sharpsburg Area.  Most notably Battleview Market, Draper’s Excavating, Draper’s Refuse Service, A&M Mt. View Farms, and Rt. 65 Flea Market.

She was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Sharpsburg, MD.

Abbie was a life member of Sharpsburg Area EMS in Sharpsburg, MD.

She loved her indoor flowers, birds, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Melody Canfield and her husband Rick of Sharpsburg, MD; daughter Danielle Schrecengost and her husband Geoffery of Sharpsburg, MD; grandchildren Dustin Stipes (Joenna), Dana Draper, Jr. (Stephanie), Hannah Canfield, Erin Planck (Jesse), Benjamin Draper (Stephanie), and Sierra Nocar; great grandchildren Peyton, Brayden, Shaelyn, Emma, Kinsley, and Paisley; also survived by her husband’s siblings Mary Deike, Robert Draper, Roger Draper, Norma Zeger, and Terry Draper.

She was predeceased by a son Dana A. Draper, Sr. and a sister Nellie J. Kline.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Mt. View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, MD at 11:00 am with Hospice Chaplain Volodymyr Grinchenko officiating.
