Allen Gardner "Sonny" Leatherman, Jr.

Boonsboro, MD – Allen Gardner “Sonny” Leatherman, Jr. 75, of Boonsboro, MD passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on March 14, 1944 in Sharpsburg, MD to the late Allen Gardner Sr. and Hazel Marie Griffith Leatherman.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Ann Scuffins Leatherman.

He was employed by St. Lawrence Cement of Hagerstown, MD for 45 years until retiring in 2009.

Sonny was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Sharpsburg, MD.

He was also a member of Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM of Williamsport, MD.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jane Flook Leatherman whom he married September 17, 1986; daughter Caroline K. Leatherman-Weichmann and her husband Wayne of Eden, MD; daughter Karen M. Metz and her husband Tim of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Cathy M. Smith of Hagerstown, MD; son Gregory A. Leatherman and his wife Barbara of Hagerstown, MD; son Raymond D. Monninger, Jr. and his wife Shawn of Boonsboro, MD; sister Nancy J. Smith of Hagerstown, MD; sister M. Jane Sirbaugh of Sharpsburg, MD; sister Sharon A. Coulter of Hagerstown, MD; sister Bette L. DeWease of Shepherdstown, WV; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by 1 grandson and a brother Rodney L. Leatherman.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Richard G. Hembrock officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery Sharpsburg, MD.
