Obituary

Anna Louise Kilmer, 96 “Louise” of Hedgesville, WV passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on October 29, 2020

Louise was born July 25th, 1924 in Baltimore, MD. She was the only daughter of the late Berkeley P. Hoke and Julia Nelson Hoke-Woodward. Louise married the late George William Kilmer Jr. May 11th, 1942. Louise was a city girl who moved to countryside of West Virginia with no luxuries. Although she was physically disabled “handicapped” was not a word in her vocabulary. Louise never met a stranger in her life. There was always a new story about her escapades on the family farm that she would share with anyone she met. Whether she locked herself in the shed, slipped in some oil in garage, or fell head first into a feed barrel, she could always look back and laugh at herself.

Louise held various positions during her working years including the Jiffy Laundry, Owner Operator of Wilson St. Confectionary, Operator and gas attendant of Hedgesville Texaco, Perfection Garment, C.H. Musselman, High’s Dairy Manager, and the Martinsburg Bon-Ton, which was her favorite position.

Louise was a member of the following organizations where she made many friends and acquaintances throughout her lifetime. She was the President of the Back Creek Valley Senior Satellites; She was a member of the Tomahawk Homemakers Club and Tomahawk Ruritan Club, where she was the eldest member. Louise was also a 50 year member of the Tomahawk Christian Church.

Louise is survived by four children.
