Keedysville, MD – Arthur Lloyd “Oss” “Cotton” Canfield, 81, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at his home.

 

He was born on December 6,1939 in Maugansville, MD to the late Herbert Lloyd and Freda Gertrude Clipp Canfield.

 

He was a 1957 graduate of Boonsboro High School in Boonsboro, MD.

 

Arthur was employed by the US Park Service with the C&O Canal until retiring in 2006.  He was previously employed by Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

He was a member of Sharpsburg Church of the Brethren in Sharpsburg, MD.

 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary E. Ingram Canfield; daughter Jill A. Miller and her husband John C. of Keedysville, MD; grandson Ian S. Miller and his fiancee’ Alyson Backus of Sharpsburg, MD; granddaughter Morgan R. Hough and her husband Nick A. of Boonsboro, MD; great grandson Wyatt A. Hough of Boonsboro, MD; sister Darlene Albritton of Sharpsburg, MD.

 

Arthur was predeceased by sisters Joyce Canfield and Lorraine Schroyer; brothers Carroll “Red” Canfield, William “Bill” Canfield, and Charles “Butch” Canfield.

 

There will be no viewing.

 

Burial is private and a service will be announced at a later date.
