Atlee Richard Churchey

Sharpsburg, MD – Atlee Richard Churchey, 98, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

He was born on September 17, 1923 in Sharpsburg, MD to the late George Washington Churchey and Fannie Frances Elizabeth Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Mae Henson Churchey in 1992.

Atlee was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a Custodian until his retirement in 1988.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was of the Protestant Faith.

Atlee is survived by his son Warren A. Churchey and his wife Corrine of Falling Waters, WV; granddaughter Cierra Churchey; grandson Joshua Dunkin; grandson Nathan Churchey; 4 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son Dennis R. Churchey; foster daughter Brenda Mellott; sisters Thelma Strite, Josephine Jackson, Ruth Lohman, Evelyn Clark, and Dorothy McCoy; brothers Clifton Churchey, Howard Churchey, Raymond Churchey, Grover Churchey, and Lloyd Churchey.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ernest Witmer officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, MD. Military graveside services will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
